I haven't enjoyed a book so thoroughly for a while. Ended up staying awake til 2:30 to finish. Started the book at 10:30 pm intending only to read the first twenty pages. Many of Stephen King's book endings crash and burn, but this one was so elegantly and concisely plotted-I liked how it really didn't feel like there was a wasted plot point or moment. That said, the storytelling structure was excellent-King really did a great job ordering the chapters to heighten dramatic irony and suspense. I've been reading too many things that try to be edgy or artsy recently, and it was a breath of fresh air to just have a story told to me. It was nice to read something so straightforward, so black and white in its plotting and morality. I'm reading this as part of The Dark Tower's extended reading list, and I can certainly see what purpose there was in reading this.
